Watch your competition

 Techcrunch had a post discussing a new site called RivalMap, which as they state “is web-based collaboration software that gives companies a central place to share and address information about competitors and their industry.”  The post also mentions prior reviews of similar tools, so it’s a good place to go for information and sites if you are in need of keep a close eye on your competitors.

Entrepreneur.com had a good article on search engines you probably haven’t heard of.  They include some large ones, but mostly niche sites that are great for specific needs.  This includes searches for product wholesalers, US Government sits and information or even lawyers.  Check out the list today.

Google Charts

Lifehacker had a post about Google’s new charting API.  It’s pretty slick, you can use it to create on0the-fly, free charts for your website (of course there are limits to free usage).  They have an nice API that is easy to understand and (at first look) seems easy to use.  Check it out at Google’s Code API.

Merriam-Webster’s Visual Dictionary

Merriam-Webster has a new version of reference material – a “visual” dictionary.  Now you can get a text description of a definition, but pictures to help you better understand it as well.   From their site:

 

“A quick glance at the index is all it takes to connect words with images. Explore the 15 major themes to access more than 6,000 images and see words like never before.”
