Mashable.com had a nice post listing over 230 tools for running an online business. This includes online tools to support activities from accounting to scheduling to conferencing to payroll. You may not need them now, but it’s a great reference list to have.

Jellyfish is a good way to get comparison prices on all sorts of products. Of course, I use pricegrabber and frugal for that, so why would I need another site? First, Jellyfish gives cash back on some purchases. But that’s not the cool part – they have something called “Smack Shopping” which is quite innovative. You can get more details at an Information Week article, but basically it’s a form of reverse auction, which consists of sellers competing for buyers by offering increasing discounts. For participants, the event involves a web page that features a product and a steadily improving discount that starts at 0% and rises toward 100%.

Some friends at work showed me two new sites that perform a network analysis of sorts on books, music and movies (as well as other items).  They create a visualization of relationships between similar items. One uses flash, the other one java, but both are quite cool. Check them out.

Good post at dmiessler.com about encrypting your Google traffic. I am not sure about you, but I use Google for just a lot of different things – email, documents, calendar and search (of course). But did you know that after login, nothing you do is encrypted? You can easily fix this just by creating your own bookmarks using https instead of http. Read the post for more info.

eBizMBA had a post on great sites to find deals. These sites have comparison shopping, great deals, and coupons. They were ranked into a top 20 by a combination of Inbound Links, Google Page Rank, Alexa Rank, and U.S. traffic data from Compete and Quantcast.

I can’t remember where I came across this – I think at digg.com. It has a huge number of examples of useful code snippets for slick design of web sites. Examples include things as simple as form validations, but also contain examples of dynamic progress bars for file uploads and other items.

Straight from Mashable (they are on a roll with great posts). They have a list of plug-ins to Firefox that will enable you to easily download movies, pictures, and other files. Lots of good ones here.
