Lifehacker had a post today about a Google Gadget that enables you to watch live TV from the UK and US. Not every channel of course, but certainly a number of options in news, sports, and entertainment.

A week or so ago I also read a blog post from Google about a new gadget that allows you to use Google Talk through your personalized home page. Another cool tool to add to Google IG.

I registered at Stockpickr.com a while back but never really began to look at it more in depth. From their site:
StockPickr is a free stock recommendation site that allows you to receive automated stock recommendations from thousands of portfolios, both professional and amateur, with a similar make-up to yours. Just enter your favorite stocks and within seconds you will receive new recommendations based on matching your portfolio with the thousands of hedge funds, mutual funds and other peer portfolios that have a similar composition. It also allows you to network, research and discover new great ideas in the financial market arena EVERY DAY!

I was doing a google search recently to find blogs about stock picks. I already read a lot of trading blogs, each person with their different approaches. I came across Stockblogs.com – a site that simply lists a bunch of other stock blogs, separating them by category. The categories include (but are not limited to): General market, options, fundamental analysis, and technical analysis. The also have a “blog of the week” blog you can subscribe to.

CNNMoney.com had an article about Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) – places where entrepreneurs and small business owners can go for free advice. The SBDCs have 450,000 small business owners that provide advice and expertise to aspiring entrepreneurs.  To find the nearest one, check out the SBA’s locator.

Everyone checks the weather. While I usually use weather.com or Yahoo! Weather, I recently came across a site called Intellicast that has a beta version of their site up and running. The information isn’t new, but I like the presentation and the ability to get a lot of information quickly without refreshing the page.

I do. I recently noticed that Flickr has a blog that shows cool pictures each day, as well as other updates. Check it out.

An interesting post in The Finance Journey about a site called InsideRedBox that posts codes to use to get free rentals at your nearest RedBox machine. Renting from a RedBox is only $1/night – much cheaper than Blockbuster. It’s a great deal and I have used it, with the only problem being the limited selection. But if you are looking for a new release, it should have what you are looking for. Plus, you can log on to their website and reserve a copy there.

The geek in me liked this post on how to create sliding DIVs using Javascript and CSS from scratch without having the overhead of effects libraries such as script.aculo.us. Firblitz posted a nice tutorial, which was initiated by an additional post from Harry Maugans.

Good post at ProgrammableWeb.com on a new site - mpire.com. They’ve used APIs from providers like Amazon, Shopping.com, eBay, Yahoo! Shopping and others, taken that data and analyzed about 10 trillion transactions, then provide shoppers not just the usual comparison search but also tools like historical price trends so you can see them over time. Somewhat akin to what Farecast does for travel.

I have been preparing to purchase a nice HDTV for my basement, but I was curious what size is right given the size and layout of my room. Amazon had a good article discussing just this. Once I know the size, how do I know what type of TV to get. It differs based on size and cost (obviously), but the set up of the room may effect things as well. About.com has a good post discussing some of those issues. And finally another good article from an HDTV forum based in England.
